3 January 2020 – Today, 38 college students from several universities in Australia joined the opening ceremony for Creative Arts and Design Professional Practice (CADPP) and Development Studies Professional Practice (DSPP) Program. These students will learn Bahasa Indonesia in Lembaga Bahasa Universitas Sanata Dharma (LBUSD). They will study Bahasa Indonesia and culture intensively for 2 weeks in LBUSD. After that, they will join the internship in many NGOs in Yogyakarta, Bali, Lombok, and Jakarta. This program is held in order to pack them with Bahasa Indonesia skills before doing the internship. They will practice their skills until February 14th.
The opening ceremony was held in Driyarkara Seminar Room, 2nd floor of Auditorium Driyarkara Sanata Dharma University. The ceremony was held at 11 AM. They already got several plenary speeches from the Australian Consortium In-Country Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) related on how to survive in Yogyakarta one day before the opening. The ceremony was opened by special performance on traditional dance about bird of paradise’s dance when they are on mating season. It was a nice performance. Bapak Dr. Adrian Budiman, the ACICIS Resident Director, continued with his speech. He also had a chance to explain the New Colombo Plan. Then, Bapak Drs. Johannes Eka Priyatma, M.Sc., Ph.D., Rector of Sanata Dharma University, gave his speech and officially opened the program by hitting the gong three times. The session continued with some photo shoots and was closed with had a lunch together. Let’s hope that these 38 students could get many benefits on learning Bahasa Indonesia in LBUSD. Semoga sukses!
