There were several activities during the camp especially workshop on batik, traditional Javanese toys ‘Jaranan’ (toys with horse-shaped from Salak tree’s stem), Jemparingan (traditional Javanese archery) and many more. These activities aimed to experience Indonesian Culture, especially Javanese culture in Yogyakarta. This is fit the theme of the Java Summer Camp, “Cultural Immersion.”  The interesting part from this camp was when all the participants were divided into several groups and in one group, the group members were from different country. They socialized with all the people from all around the world because of this situation.

It was not only attending several workshops, but the participants also visited several tourism spots and attractions. They visited several places such as Ramayana Ballet in Prambanan, temples (Banyunibo, Ijo, Prambanan), and so on. They also experienced the camp in an open nature using tent to sleep in. At the last day, they had to perform some performances around ‘Api Unggun’ or camp fire. One of the students from LBUSD felt honored because she was given a title as the best woman participant in the summer camp. It was a great experience for them to understand more about Indonesian culture.
