17 October 2019 – NUS students had a chance to visit the orphanage and school in Yogyakarta. They visited Kanisius Demangan Baru elementary school and Sayap Ibu 2 Orphanage. They went to these two places in order to know more about Indonesia. First, they visited SD Kanisius Demangan Baru (elemantary school) near Sanata Dharma University. They went there at 8 a.m.

There, they had an interesting discussion with the headmaster. They talked about the curriculum and facilities needed by the students there. They had an opportunity to take a look on the learning process. They finished their visit at 10 a.m. and continue to the next destination. Panti Asuhan Sayap Ibu 2 was the next destination. This orphanage is located in Kalasan, about 30 minutes from Sanata Dharma.

They arrived there at 10.30 a.m. and was welcomed by Mbak Devi, the orphanage head chief.  They discussed about how the orphanage could stay alive in this era. They also walked around the ward to take a look this orphanage facilities. Then they met the orphans and had an interesting interaction with them. It was a nice experience for them and they were really happy, they could understand Indonesia from another point of view.
